The oak is carefully charred using the yakisugi technique, deepening the grain and giving the surface its dark colour and tactile character. It is then brushed, burnished and finished with linseed oil and waxes, allowing the structure of the timber to remain visible beneath the blackened finish.

The lamp uses an E27 fitting, so the warmth and intensity of the light can be chosen to suit the room. Place it on a side table, bedside table or in a quiet corner where ambient light is more important than brightness.

’Yakisugi’ is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation using fire, dating back to the 18th century and historically used for protecting the exterior wooden cladding of buildings.

Wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and keep away from direct heat sources. Use only with a compatible E27 bulb and follow the confirmed bulb and electrical specifications supplied with the lamp.
