The scent of birch has marked the beginning of countless sauna rituals for generations.
Preparing the whisk is part of the ritual itself
Leave the whisk inside its linen bag and slowly moisten the fabric with warm water until the branches become evenly damp. Place it on the sauna bench while the sauna warms, allowing the leaves to gradually soften and their natural fragrance to awaken. When the sauna is ready, take the whisk out of its bag and leave it to soak in a bucket of warm water, releasing its leafy fragrance.
There is no need to rush
When warmed and softened, the leaves release their characteristic fresh forest aroma while gentle whisking stimulates the skin, encourages circulation and spreads the pleasant warmth of the sauna evenly across the body. The ritual is never about striking the skin — it is about slow, rhythmic movements that help the body relax and the mind settle.
